This work is somewhat the complement to the comic book "In the Name of the Bomb." It is a historical document. Its reader allows one to grasp the extent of the efforts made in France to "be counted among the great powers."
Seeing the hydrogen bomb explode, de Gaulle had exclaimed, "It's beautiful!"
I am in contact with people who were stationed there and who testify to the destruction of a social structure, and the export of a way of life utterly unsuitable.
In this book, you will find photos of the "tsunami shelters" built to protect personnel in case a limestone plateau detached from the atoll, shaken by a nuclear explosion.
