-- (BUSINESS WIRE) -- December 8, 2004 -- Applied Digital (Nasdaq: ADSX), a provider of "security through innovation™," announced today that its subsidiary VeriChip Corporation has been granted exclusive rights to distribute the VeriChip in Thailand/Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Korea.
To maintain exclusivity, each distributor must purchase a minimum number of VeriChips and scanners over a three-year period. Collectively, these purchases would amount to at least 65,825 VeriChips and 4,687 scanners. Each distributor plans to sell and market the VeriChip for applications related to security, medical uses, and emergency identification.
VeriChip Corporation has granted exclusive distribution rights in Thailand/Indonesia to Inforlexus (www.Inforlexus.com.my). The company has also granted exclusive distribution rights for Malaysia to Universal Microchip (www.universalmicrochip.com). For South Korea, exclusive distribution rights have been granted to SI&I Co., Ltd (http://www.siikorea.com, particularly alarming). In 2002, the company had granted exclusive rights to another entity in the country, which failed to meet the minimum purchase requirement, thus ending the contract.
