The journalist Daniel Lecomte, senior reporter: his opinion on conspiracy theorists

Daniel Lecomte, journalist, presents here a documentary produced by Doc en Stock for the ARTE channel, April 2006
A quick look at Google reveals that he is no amateur journalist or low-level presenter. He began his career at Le Monde Diplomatique. Then, he became a senior reporter for the newspaper Libération before producing documentaries for television. A seasoned professional, he is widely recognized for his extensive knowledge of Asian countries, Africa, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and is presented as an expert on the former USSR. In short, within the journalistic world, he is a highly experienced, confident professional. In 2004, three years after the events, he commissioned, on behalf of the ARTE channel and through the company Doc en Stock, a dossier on the events of September 11, to two directors, Barbara Lessek and Antoine Vitkine, titled "September 11 Never Happened."
The rights issues related to television footage prevent us from presenting a video that has been commercially exploited on a website. However, it remains possible to capture a few images here and there and accompany them with a written transcript of the speaker's remarks. Here is the introduction to this professional journalist Daniel Lecomte's intervention. The very first sentences are missing. If a reader sends them to me, I will add them.

Daniel Lecomte's mocking opinion on the events of September 11, 2001.
His own words: Among all the bad jokes that regularly disrupt the media and make front-page news, one stands out above all others—both because of the exceptional nature of the event and the sheer scale of the delusion. µ
It was September 11, 2001.
Remember!
A few months after the attack on America, a version began circulating on the internet.
With pseudo-evidence in hand, authors, political figures, publishers, and even, at times… journalists, assert without hesitation that everything we've been told so far is null and void.
No, September 11 was not an attack orchestrated by bin Laden and his killers to bring America to its knees.
They claim that September 11 was a massive manipulation, masterfully conceived, planned, and executed by the U.S. military.
Why?
Well, to shock American public opinion, thus enabling America to deploy its troops in Iraq and reshape the Middle East?
Sure, right…
The thread is enormous, yet the story still gains traction.
So, what happened to make so many people fall into such stupidity?
What happened to allow mass media to give them a royal platform, enabling them to reach the general public?
Here is "September 11 Never Happened," a film by Doc en Stock, produced for ARTE. It is directed by Barbara Lessek and Antoine Vitkine.
Watch it.

I cannot possibly spend the time needed to provide a full written transcript of the film in question. I only hope it remains accessible at
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xubdb_complot-11-septembre_news
It is an important document. You will see, among other things, Pierre Lagrange speaking in the same vein. And he is a sociologist. I am searching for the remarks made by Philippe Val, editor-in-chief of Charlie Hebdo, a certain Gunther…, a German journalist for the newspaper Der Spiegel, as well as other participants who joined the panel following the broadcast, all of whom considered it their duty as journalists and media professionals, writers, to condemn the "amateurish work" of Thierry Meyssan, who, by publishing his book Pentagate, was the first to challenge the official version of the "September 11 attacks."
You will find the statements of the distinguished press professional Gunther Latschi, senior reporter at the German newspaper Der Spiegel:

Gunther Latsch, from the German newspaper Der Spiegel, in the Lessek and Vitkine program.
For Latsch, who also participated in the final roundtable discussion with Philippe Val (a document I have not yet found online), the entire problem with the statements and books produced by people like Thierry Meyssan and his followers lies in the fact that they are not professional journalists. He will tell you that "it took him only a morning and a few phone calls abroad to verify that none of this held up, that this conspiracy rumor was entirely baseless."
October 6, 2007: I didn't realize that the Media Observatory had already published a fairly complete transcript of the "great media professionals'" interventions in this ARTE broadcast in its columns.
Read and listen. Reflect. Form your own opinion. This broadcast is important:

and the follow-up:

If you make the effort to read and listen to these statements, your perception of "great journalists" and "French intellectuals" may well be shaken. For me, when I first watched this broadcast in 2004, it was a revelation—I admit it.
