Coal Miners of Provence Negotiations

****

UNANIMOUS STATEMENT TO THE CHSCT EXTRAORDINARY FUND

FEBRUARY 3, 2003

We do not support the events that took place underground, nor do we support abandoning a mine in perfect working condition that is ready to produce coal.

In view of these acts of despair, the message of the miners seems clear:

There will be no closure in Provence as long as Charbonnages de France and the Ministry do not open up real specific negotiations on Provence.

They will not let the Lorrains, or anyone else, decide their fate.
