Conversation with God
A book by Neale Donald Walsch
June 11, 2013
AInternet user recommended me to read the famous work of the American Neal Donald Walsch. He even sent it to me.
Idove into it, with courage. When I try to analyze the content of a book, the form of the potential message it conveys, in the end, its pages are full of pencil notes. This is the case with this paperback edition "Conversation with God," a book that has been a bestseller (more than 7 million copies sold worldwide, in who knows how many languages!).
It is a fact that men and women on Earth are waiting for the words of a prophet. Everyone, more or less clearly, says: How should I live my life? At least those who can afford the luxury of asking such a question. For many, this luxury is simply out of reach, and their existence is spent merely trying to survive.
It there are three problems in survival: Ensuring one's own survival, ensuring that of one's offspring, and finally, ensuring one's survival in old age, relying on the material help of those one has brought into the world.
This last aspect explains the exponential growth of the human population. This phenomenon of overpopulation is crucial. It has only one answer: the sharing of resources. The implementation of rights, but also of duties.
Is there a human rights charter? Is there a text that speaks of duties? Is there a text that presents both together? I don't know.
I have built my own personal answer to the meaning of life and consciousness. I presented it in a video published online in early 2013. The friend who downloaded the file gave it a title that does not correspond to the content:
On evolution, science, weapons and research

Idon't know what title should have been given to this presentation. Maybe a pretentious one, but corresponding to the content. That would have been something like "My personal conception of the Universe."
Everyone has one, formulated or not. There, I presented mine. Before going into the content of Walsch's book, I will take a small detour about the speech given by "her accomplice," Barbara Marx Hubbard. You can find them both, congratulating each other, in the recording made during a conference held in Toulouse in 2012. Here is the corresponding link.

I return to the notes I took on Walsch's book. For those who know nothing about the book, the author one day experiences a complete void. Nothing is going well, on a personal level, with children, material. He has lost his job, and one day decides "to write to God." And, oh surprise, the answer comes to him through automatic writing. He therefore decides to keep all these notes and publish them. An editor accepts the manuscript, which will become a bestseller (7 million copies sold). God thus provided a very concrete answer to Walsch's protest regarding his material situation.
This story once again raises the issue of man's contact with an invisible world, expressed in multiple ways. Automatic writing is not the most reliable channel. Having practiced graphology, I can say that a person with a fairly skilled hand can imitate another type of writing. Thus, it would be very possible for me to say:
- I am in contact with another entity other than myself. See: the writing changes.
In addition, there are very spectacular trance states, which are characterized by measurable neural alterations. Example:
Corinne Sombrun, the shaman:

. Pianist, composer, reporter, shaman (Mongolia, 900 km from Ulaanbaatar. A very isolated area), writer. Incidentally, on a personal level, homosexual. But this is a detail to mention.

Some excerpts from this radio program:
The function of the shaman dates back to the Neolithic. The trance allows the shaman to address the problems that are troubling you.
When Corinne hears the sound of the drum and enters a trance, she transforms into a wolf and starts howling. Not common. In Mongolia, one shaman per 5000 inhabitants. The shaman tells Corinne, "You need to stay here to be trained."
She negotiates and alternates stays, for 8 years, 3 months a year. She is initiated by a shaman-instructor Ink Tuya (born in 1957). While milking reindeer. Yen Tuya raises reindeer. Shamanic practices were fought by the communists. These traditions are officially banned. Therefore, clandestine shamanism. These traditions, not eradicated by repression, today face the onslaught of ... tourism. Tour operators have started organizing visits.
Commercialization of traditions, in contradiction with usual rules (shamanism traditionally only functions at night)
In 10 years, Mongolia went from 30 to 1000 shamans. So proliferation of shaman-charlatans, performing false ceremonies to satisfy tourism. Greed is stronger than anything. Anyway, these services allow access to water, electricity, health, medical care, vehicles. Infant mortality has dropped. The relationship with nature has changed.
When the shaman travels by car, he disturbs the harmony of the world and "angers the spirits." This "anger" is no longer "cleaned." The shaman no longer sets up his yurts in the reindeer passages, but "where there is a network, to be able to answer the calls of the tour operators on their mobile phones (...)"
By doing so, the shaman shows disrespect, loses intuition, and the spirits send alarms. As the shamans do not listen, the spirits "send problems." There are televisions in the yurts. In the tipi of her shaman Yien Turka, a mobile phone hangs among the slices of meat.
- Malgash (when you are ready, my daughter, when you have milked enough reindeer).
She eventually made me a drum, a costume (armors, to protect against entities). The shaman is a communicator, a negotiator. The role of the shaman is a burden. Corinne entered a trance as soon as she heard the drum. I had visions. I had more strength than usual. I could hold this 8 kg drum in my arms for several hours.
Lupine visions. "The spirit of the wolf will teach you." "The spirits will teach you."
Each shaman is in contact with another entity, another animal. It is the animal that gives the power. "Today I can be a chicken, a pig," says Corinne.
The totem animal of Ink Tuya is the raven.
Shamans save hunters, heal thousands of patients.
Shamans believe in reincarnation. Souls go to this "dark world." There is the bright world, that of the living. But Buddhism has brought the theme of reincarnation.
Shamans: one is reincarnated only as a human.
Corinne: the trance resembles a dream. A modified state of consciousness. One detects harmonies, disharmonies.
In neuroscience, the brain's state is deeply modified. I went to see scientists. Pierre Etevenon, former honorary director of the CNRS. "OK for the electroencephalogram..."
