Second part.
When hunting the unusual, one needs a minimum of training in the techniques of sleight of hand, otherwise one is quickly deceived. The most impressive tricks are those where the subject himself performs the operations. Let's give some examples. During a rather lively conversation we had at the restaurant, Mr. D. mentioned that "reality could be nothing more than an illusion." I demonstrated it to him on the spot. He was holding a glass marble (perhaps "materialized" by his Mexican medium). I asked him to close his eyes, then to cross his fingers as indicated below, and finally to roll the marble I placed under his fingers, also as indicated. The following illustrations are taken from my comic book "Les Mille et une nuits scientifiques," which the reader can download for free on the website of savoir-sans-frontières at:

- How many marbles are there?
- Two, you added a second one," answered Mr. Dray.
Try the experiment, with your eyes closed. You will see that you cannot even trust your own sense of touch!
