October 14, 2005: Bush caught in the act.

The clip

**

This is an excerpt from the TF1 news of October 14, 2005. In it, the President of the United States of America is seen conversing with about ten soldiers, men and women, of the expeditionary corps present in Iraq. Unfortunately (and this was seen by all the television stations in the United States) the technicians let slip at the end of the broadcast a sequence showing the rehearsals of that sequence, completely fake. The texts had been composed by the US foreign relations department. The lines had been learned by heart, both by George Bush and by the soldiers involved in this media operation.

The Pentagon apologized to the American citizens.....

Question: how can one recover, politically, from such a blunder?

Keep well in mind that this is not an exceptional accident. Every sentence uttered by George Bush is learned by heart by him and composed by others. If you doubt it, watch the sequence found at the beginning of Michael Moore's film "Fahrenheit 911" where we see Bush, in a primary school, just told that the World Trade Center towers had been struck by planes. He is caught off guard, incapable of taking the slightest initiative. In fact they must have told him "great events are brewing, in which you will play an important role." But he did not know exactly what it was about. He did not imagine that this could take on such proportions. So he is a bit lost, waiting for orders, for his lines.

October 26, 2005: The first Suicide-President in history.

There is news that is hard to reproduce, so incredible does it seem. Having found this one in my messages this morning, I waited until midday and the confirmation to reproduce it. We had the suicide commandos. Now a new concept appears, that of the Suicide-President. We know that the former "moderate" Iranian president had lost the elections because it had been learned that, under his garb of a modest Mullah, he represented the third largest fortune in Iran. Bad electoral calculation. He was therefore replaced by "a little teacher," ultra-conservative, named:

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the first Suicide-President in history
Translation of the text below "The world without Zionism"
****

TEHRAN, Oct 26 (AFP)

Iran's ultra-conservative president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad openly called Wednesday for the State of Israel to be "wiped off the map."

It is the first time in years that such a high-ranking Iranian leader has publicly advocated the disappearance of the State of Israel, even if it is part of the regime's propaganda. "As the imam (Khomeini) said, Israel must be wiped off the map," said the president in a speech delivered on the occasion of a conference entitled "The world without Zionism." These remarks, made during a period of tension in relations with Westerners, quickly drew condemnation from Paris. "If these remarks were indeed made, we condemn them with the greatest firmness," declared the spokesman of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Baptiste Mattéi. "The Muslim nation will not allow its historic enemy to live in its very heart," insisted the Iranian president in this address, also strongly anti-American, delivered before four thousand radical students.

When the students, all dressed in black, chanted "death to Israel" at his appearance on the platform, Mr. Ahmadinejad told them that such a slogan should be proclaimed even louder. Mr. Ahmadinejad, whose taking office in August following the reformer Mohammad Khatami, champion of the "dialogue of civilizations," coincided with a clear hardening of the Islamic regime, advocated the unity of the Palestinians to reach "the point of annihilation of the Zionist regime." A former officer of the Guardians of the Revolution, the ideological army, Mr. Ahmadinejad defended the armed struggle of the Palestinians and heaped abuse on regional leaders who recognize or would recognize Israel.

"The fighting on the occupied land is part of a war for its destiny. The outcome of hundreds of years of war is being played out on Palestinian land," said Mr. Ahmadinejad. "The leaders of the Muslim nation who recognize Israel will burn in the flames of the anger of their own people," he promised. He denounced Israel as the creation of "global oppressor forces," the quasi-official designation of the United States and the West, and spoke of a "historic war of several centuries between the oppressor and the Islamic world,"

The breaking of relations with Israel was one of the first diplomatic acts of the Islamic Republic instituted in 1979. Israel considers itself the designated target of the Iranian nuclear program, which the Islamic Republic proclaims purely civilian but which puts Iran only a few years away from possessing the atomic weapon. These concerns are reinforced by Iranian ballistic activities, which put Israel within range of Iranian missiles. The regime regularly displays missiles bearing the slogan: "Israel must be wiped off the map." Speculation has never ceased about the possibility of an Israeli preemptive attack. Iranian diplomacy had envisaged in 2002 the coexistence of an Israeli State and a Palestinian State. But Mr. Ahmadinejad's government program announced the color by advocating a foreign policy of détente "with all countries, except the usurping regime of Qods (Jerusalem) forever," and the United States. The negation of the State of Israel is one of the strongest obstacles to a normalization of Iranian relations with the West. The United States accuses Iran of arming radical anti-Israeli movements. Sheikh Hassan Nasrallah, head of the Lebanese Shiite Hezbollah movement, had a message read at the Tehran conference saying: "we will gather all means to annihilate the regime that occupies Qods." The representative in Iran of the Palestinian Hamas movement, the ambassadors of Syria and of the Palestinian Authority, were present. Large anti-Israeli rallies are planned Friday throughout the country.

In the corridors of the White House they are concocting a September 11 bis that would make it possible to justify the crushing of Iran under a deluge of nuclear weapons. After the declarations of the Iranian president, where will we have to go and hide on this damn planet to avoid soon getting bombs on our heads?

No use deluding ourselves: we are living to the rhythm of a veritable deluge of catastrophes. Cyclones follow one upon another. Lately, we were having an earthquake a week. Next time, what will it be?
