Excerpt from the interview with Eric Laurent, conducted by Thierry Ardisson
at the time of the release of his book "The Hidden Face of September 11"
This interview on Tout le monde en parle is not recent. It dates from December 7, 2006. But it still, it seems to me, retains all its freshness and relevance, and it's good that internet users rewatch it in full.

Eric Laurent is a genuine investigative journalist who goes everywhere. He went to Afghanistan. He was present in the United States. He undertook massive research to follow every lead that came his way. He belongs among the "conspiracy theorists." But no journalist, expert, or essayist—such as the authors of "The Horrifying Lie" (Dasquié and Guisnel)—would dare confront him in a debate, which we will never get to see anyway. Because Laurent's immediate response would be: "Have you been there? No. Well, I have!"
Email from JLG, Brussels:
So let's summarize the concrete facts:
76 Jewish victims (?) out of 3,000 total victims makes 2.5%.
In New York, the proportion of Jews is 12%, according to Wikipedia.
These towers housed a high concentration of financial institutions, where Jews are very strongly represented—this is no secret.
So how can we concretely explain the low number of Jewish victims (even if it's still too high)?
And apparently, no one explains it; everyone dances around the issue. And as soon as you ask the question, you're immediately labeled "anti-Semitic" by those who are uncomfortable with the truth. Fortunately, there's no memory law on this subject!
Excerpt from Wikipedia.
The New York metropolitan area is home to the world's second-largest Jewish community after Israel's. In 2001, New York's Jewish population was 1.97 million. In 2002, the Ashkenazi population was estimated at 972,000, or 12% of the total population.
Thus, the 12% corresponds to Ashkenazim.
If we take the total (so-called) Jewish population of 2 million out of a total of 8 million, that would make around 25% (see further clarification below, and correction of this figure).

September 8, 2009: Comment from JLG in Brussels:
Hello,
You're partly right. One must be cautious—but also realistic.
I merely repeated Eric Laurent’s statement about the figure of 76.
Here is the article and the source of the number 76.
http://www.america.gov/st/pubsenglish/2007/November/20050114145729atlahtnevel0.1679041.html
A partial list of 390 Cantor Fitzgerald employees who died (out of 658 in the company) lists 49 Jewish memorial services, which is between 12% and 13%.
http://myfriendsphotos.tripod.com/cf.html
The following partial list of 76 Jewish World Trade Center victims includes many from companies located at or above the impact zones. These include Cantor Fitzgerald, which lost 658 employees, Marsh & McLennan, which lost 295 employees, Aon Corporation, which lost 176 employees, and others. Photographs of many of the victims can be found at:
http://www.september11victims.com/september11victims/victims_list.htm
There is also another list of 49, some of whom are duplicates from the list of 76.
For the rest, no reliable or tangible list exists.
The 25% figure for Jews comes from Wikipedia, whose English version is more precise than the French one and specifies that it refers to New York City, not the metropolitan area.
The demographics of New York City are evidence of a uniquely large and ethnically diverse metropolis. It is the largest city in the United States with a population shaped by a long history of international immigration. New York City is home to more than 8 million people, accounting for about 40% of the population of New York State and a similar percentage of the New York metropolitan area, home to about 20 million.
The New York metropolitan area is home to the largest Jewish population in the world outside Israel. New York City's Jewish population in 2001 was approximately 1.97 million—1.4 million more than in Jerusalem, but 600,000 fewer than in Israel's largest metropolitan area, known as Gush Dan. However, the city of Tel Aviv proper (within municipal limits) has a smaller population than the Jewish population of New York City proper, making New York City the largest Jewish community in the world.[50] In 2002, an estimated 972,000 Ashkenazi Jews lived in New York City and constituted about 12% of the city's population.
New York City is also home to the world headquarters of the Hasidic Chabad-Lubavitch group and the Bobover and Satmar branches of Hasidism, ultra-Orthodox sects of Judaism.
The 2003 study by the UJA-Federation of New York cited by The New York Times refers to 972,000 Jews in New York City—about 12%.
The Jewish population of New York City has fallen by 5% since 1991, dipping below one million for the first time in a century, according to a roughly once-a-decade study released today by the UJA-Federation of New York.
But Jews who left the city seemed to stay in the region, because the Jewish population has risen correspondingly in three suburban counties in New York State.
The study, considered the most authoritative count of the Jewish population, said there were 972,000 Jews in New York City in 2002. That was a moderate drop from the 1980s and 1990s but less than half the peak of two million living in the five boroughs in the late 1950s.
[…] It continued to flourish and in 1957 was counted at just over two million, meaning that one out of four New Yorkers was Jewish, compared with one in eight today.
Clearly, Wikipedia's phrasing is misleading—the figure of 1.97 million from 2001 refers more accurately to the New York metropolitan area.
In conclusion, to eliminate any ambiguity, sticking to the 12% figure, the best course would probably be full transparency and access to a complete list of Jewish victims of the WTC.
I don't think this should be an insurmountable task or constitute any offense to the victims' rest.

A comment from JLG on a BBC debate dedicated to Building 7
Broadcast on the channel Planète on September 9 at 8:40 PM:
Yes, this suspicion is heavy. But all hypotheses must be considered when they involve the primary beneficiaries of the attacks: American neoconservatives and the extreme right-wing Zionist movements, both Israeli and American. Let's not forget that while there are 7.7 million Jews in Israel, there are 7.2 million in the United States.
Both countries have a long history of operations carried out "under false flag." Among the Israelis, there is the famous Lavon Affair, which readers can find on Wikipedia—elements I have included in my dossier "The Country of Suffering and Hate," a dossier that has received no negative comments from anyone, anywhere, because all the facts collected are verified.
On the American side, one has no shortage of examples, beginning with the f...
