Eric Dezoete sent us a view of the world map with a copy of Rita pasted on it, illustrating that such a phenomenon is roughly the size of... France.

The monster is taking its time.

Although wind speeds reach extreme levels, the storm's forward motion is slow: only 15 km/h. I’ve done quite a bit of skydiving—specifically delayed-opening parachuting—and my last jump was several years ago (though I’d really like to get back into it).

Keep this figure in mind: the maximum falling speed of a human body is about 250 km/h (up to 300 km/h when headfirst, legs spread, in the "Canarozzo position"). So when we’re told that hurricane winds reach these speeds, it means humans could be swept away like straw. As for houses in the region—mostly built of wood—they resemble those of two of the "Three Little Pigs" when the Big Bad Wolf starts blowing on them. There’s nothing left... nothing at all.

You may have read the testimony of people who experienced what happened in Louisiana after Katrina passed through. In short, people driving cars were seen as "residents fleeing." But others—simple pedestrians who had gathered—were labeled "potential rioters." Military forces didn’t hesitate to open fire on them, pushing them back and preventing them from escaping the disaster zone on their own.

Louisiana: survival of the fittest

The United States has become a country living under fear and violence (revisit Moore’s film Bowling for Columbine). Rumors are circulating that the Bush administration wishes to exploit the current situation to impose Martial Law—essentially placing the country under military control, a prelude to establishing a fascist regime. This is extremely serious and has been warned about for a long time. At the same time, we see the American government pushing for mandatory implantation of microchips in individuals, supposedly so citizens can carry "medical information." But it’s far more than that.

The situation is escalating. For multiple reasons—climatic, economic, social—it’s evolving rapidly, and more and more people are saying, "It’s impossible this can keep going on like this without something major and serious happening." In passing, let’s salute the courage of Jimmy Walter and his team, who are fighting for the reopening of the "September 11, 2001" case. I’ve always believed that America could give rise to both the worst and the best. Those who have worked in this direction have shown—and continue to show—remarkable courage.

For several days, viewing the video files on http://www.reopen911.org was impossible—not due to traffic overload, but because the links had been removed. Then streaming playback became possible again. As I write this (September 23, 2005, 3:00 PM), the stream is once again interrupted, and the associated site in Belgium is inaccessible again. The same applies to all subtitled files.

People need to see this 2h40 video CD, freely distributed by Jimmy Walter. You can receive it for free by sending two 0.53 euro stamps for postage to Réseau Voltaire, 93 rue de Maubeuge, 75010 Paris. Please do this. Inform yourself. It’s a powerful, gripping documentary (though you may not emerge unscathed from watching it).

I have a lot to do today. I need to organize a strong action. In April 2004, the channel Arte aired a report titled "September 11 Never Happened"—a true disgrace for the journalistic profession. I had already commented on it at the time. Unfortunately, laws currently prevent the broadcast of this document, which Arte holds rights to. So it remains inaccessible. Anyone violating these laws on intellectual property could face prosecution under the French Loi sur l’Économie Numérique (Digital Economy Law). Since legal distribution is impossible (though many such documents are available via the "Emule" network), I plan to analyze it frame by frame, sentence by sentence, on my website.

Beyond that, what needs to be done is:

  • Ask Americans to extract a 52-minute version of their "Painful Deception" document, currently subtitled, and have it fully dubbed into French (and German, since Arte broadcasts on both networks).
  • Demand that Arte rebroadcast its "September 11 Never Happened" report so French viewers can see just how low (or how foolish) journalists from their own country—and German journalists—can sink. And do so during prime time.
  • Then demand that Arte broadcast, during peak viewership hours, the 52-minute extract from the American document, followed by a debate between the French and German journalists who participated in the April 2004 broadcast (including Philippe Val, editor-in-chief of Charlie Hebdo) and members of Jimmy Walter’s team, so that a genuine, opposing debate can finally take place.
  • We could also invite representatives from the two French newspapers that filed lawsuits when Jimmy Walter’s CD began circulating in France, attempting to ban it.

If Arte refuses these legitimate demands, we must then expose this manipulation of information and refusal to allow open debate. If we don’t achieve this, it will mean our mainstream media no longer has the mission to inform, spark intellectual discussion, or allow people to express themselves—but instead to numb and outright lie to viewers, listeners, and readers.

I fear the channel will never respond to such a request, and we’ll be left with this sad reality. But September 11 represents a monumental issue. It’s the keystone of a vast structure of lies—and the first in a chain of dominoes.

An oblique view of Hurricane Katrina gives a sense of the sheer magnitude of such phenomena.
