| JD : | What do you think of the researcher Jean-Pierre PETIT and his positions? | JJV : | That's a long and old story, not only between Jean-Jacques Velasco and Jean-Pierre Petit, but between him and people who have the fault of holding "official" positions on various subjects, but more particularly on UFOs. | For people who are not familiar with the subject and want to inform themselves, they can consult numerous websites on the Internet that discuss the topic, including one in particular, that of a scientist, therefore apparently serious, that of Jean-Pierre Petit. On this site, you immediately understand who you are dealing with, as he explains in detail that he is practically the only one capable of solving the scientific mystery of UFOs and everything that revolves around this subject. Very well, but in addition, we find other things, such as songs he has written, and other aspects that shed light on the personality of Jean-Pierre Petit. | If the discussion on the substance of the themes addressed is open, mainly between specialists, on the other hand, regarding the general tone and more precisely the tone he constantly uses, as well as the personal challenges, I feel the need to provide a public answer to Jean-Pierre PETIT for the first time. | Beyond his statements, which he has been making for years in books where scientific questions coexist with anecdotes and the most violent criticisms against all those who do not think like him, he is undoubtedly one of the characters who has generated the most discussion in French UFOlogy for nearly thirty years. | Why is there a conflict, a controversy, that has been going on between us for so long? Is it a question of divergence or a scientific dispute? Is it an underlying personal rivalry that is being transposed into the public sphere? The question is of an entirely different nature and has more to do with the personality and individual behavior of the person in question than anything else. | With Jean-Pierre Petit, things usually go like this; he starts a discussion on a subject among researchers, which takes place on the terrain of analysis and discussion, during which he tries to show a charming and pleasant side with the greatest courtesy. After this short period of courtesy, you suddenly become the target of increasingly violent criticisms. The day before, you were the most extraordinary person on Earth, and the next day, he rejects you with the utmost violence! Since our paths crossed nearly thirty years ago, how many people around me have made this bitter observation? | Why then does Jean-Pierre Petit have a reputation that goes beyond the small UFO activist community? Probably because he has used and abused his title of research director at CNRS to present himself as the indispensable researcher on UFOs, and beware of those who would dare to contradict him or get in his way, then he brings out the heavy artillery against all those who do not think like him, using media outlets in the press and his books. | Which public, civil or military organization would have entrusted Jean-Pierre Petit with resources and personnel, researchers and technicians, when he has consistently behaved in this way for decades, criticizing without restraint even the people who helped him when he was a student at Sup Aéro or at the beginning of his research career? I think of | , former president of CNES and CEA | . It's completely astonishing... | I have often wondered how the leadership of a major research institution, or even just a public one, would react if one of its agents repeated this kind of behavior towards colleagues for so many years! In principle, only the CNRS could tolerate this, because I can tell you that many agents of these administrations would have already been brought before a disciplinary council for much lesser offenses! | How can Jean-Pierre Petit be taken seriously when he declares, in | , that the USA would possess satellites capable of flying at 10,000 km/h, antimatter bombs the size of a golf ball, probes that have already secretly conducted a complete exploration of the solar system, a clean energy source that they would not use to continue exploiting oil, and that there are aliens in the underground of the secret Groom Lake base! | And I don't even mention the UMMITES, about whom it is known that they have entrusted certain initiates with the keys to the Earth house... | I think that, given the evolution of the situation in recent months, I had to speak out, explaining the matter in depth, and it is necessary that people understand that Jean-Pierre Petit has a problem with others, that he only resolves it through constant and negative conflict, and doesn't care at all about the consequences of his actions. I call this irresponsibility. | Now, regarding my personal relationship with him, it occurred when I was in charge of investigations within the GEPAN in 1981. Jean-Pierre Petit was an external collaborator of the GEPAN, working on MHD | . Returning from the Trans-en-Provence investigation, I went into the office of Alain Esterle, then head of the GEPAN, and I gave him an oral summary of our on-site intervention. Jean-Pierre Petit, sitting in the office, was present at this debriefing without saying a word. After this brief meeting, I did not see Jean-Pierre Petit again until one or two television programs. | But this single meeting had effects and consequences that still last today. Jean-Pierre Petit, taking advantage of the information given in the GEPAN office, recovered it and used it to, a few days later, produce a television program with the Bogdanoff brothers, in the style of X-Files before its time, with a cardboard flying saucer on the field! | While we had barely started working on this case, the press was already thoroughly disclosing this matter, which was only at the stage of the first part of our investigation work. How can one claim to want to do high-level science, and at the same time rush into the arms of journalists from a private television channel? I'll need to be explained what is being sought. In any case, I knew from that time what Jean-Pierre Petit was capable of. However, I was not yet finished with my troubles... | After this affair, there were others, but especially constant conflicts with people who worked with him. At CNES | ,...
