SUBJECT: COMPANY SITUATION FOLLOWING THE EVENTS OF FRIDAY, 31 JANUARY 2003_________________________
Mr. CIAMPINI replaces Mr. AMEZIANI
Mr. BONNET replaces Mr. PODDA
Messrs. MOUTOT and Dr. PIN are excused.
Mr. BAUDRY reads out the attached statement for the entire CHSCT.
Mr. LAZAREWICZ: Extremely serious incidents occurred on Friday, 31st:
- machinery, some of which was recovered from underground, set on fire
- warehouse looted
- garage vandalized
- machinery used by masked individuals for about an hour
Unable to ensure safety or operation, nor protect staff going underground, we voluntarily disabled all machinery to prevent anyone from descending. The DRIRE has been informed.
Mr. BAUDOIN: Legal complaints have been filed; consequently, inspections must be carried out before anything can be touched. Damage to work equipment is very serious. Out of 60 machines underground, only 8 remain operational. We must examine what happened to the machinery and conduct necessary checks.
Mr. FILIPI: You say these are serious acts, but announcing an early closure in 2.5 to 3 years is also a serious act. The issue of subcontractors remains unresolved; CESARI announces layoffs, CRUDELLI’s staff won’t be rehired, only ORTEC is beginning to make offers. To the accelerated closure process we must add concerns regarding the plant’s future. Moreover, DPA’s proposals are insufficient. Who is responsible? What is serious? I demand that steps be taken so work can resume promptly. By accelerating the closure process, it is CFC that bears responsibility.
