Mr. BAUDRY: Page 3 – Remarks by Messrs. BEAUDOIN and LAZAREWICZ:
“Mr. BEAUDOIN: The safety issues related to the machinery at Well Y, as well as the cables and attachments, must be examined.”
“Mr. LAZAREWICZ: We’ll take all the time needed to conduct thorough checks.”
You made these statements during the February 3 meeting, even though inspections had already been carried out over the weekend.
Page 4 – My remarks should be corrected as follows:
“The CHSCT requests permission to inspect the site; also, we want to know why Well Gérard has been shut down.”
Mr. SASSI: Regarding employees who remain at home, we’d like to know how things are handled in case of an accident.
Mr. LAZAREWICZ: Generally speaking, workplace accidents are considered to have occurred either at the workplace, during commuting, or while performing duties. They cannot fall outside this framework. In this case, employees are told to stay at home and remain available. If called upon, no disciplinary action will be taken against employees who do not leave their homes. Therefore, such accidents cannot be classified as work-related.
Mr. BAUDRY: How can someone be scheduled to work yet not be covered by any supervisory oversight?
Mr. LAZAREWICZ: It’s similar to when an employee is on leave.
Mr. FILIPPI: You ask employees not to come to work, yet you say it’s the same situation for them. But those employees wish to work, and you prevent them from accessing their workplaces.
Mr. BAUDRY: Regarding the agenda, we’d prefer to conduct an inspection of the site prior to the meeting.
Mr. LAZAREWICZ: The answer is no. No inspections will be conducted at the site. For now, access to the site remains prohibited. I can explain more clearly what was said on Monday.
Mr. BONNET: Concerning the sanctions imposed on a minor representative, the prosecutor’s decision to prohibit access to the site, as well as Tuesday morning’s events involving the crane operator and the subcontractor trying to clear debris—to us, these are all part of one whole. If nothing is allowed to be done regarding the company, then nothing will be done at all.
