Hurricane Wilma
October 19, 2005
I have a crazy workload. I'm being called upon from all sides. I have to work on several book projects at once and on top of that fight to publish our recent research results. The GESTO report has been finished since last night. All that's left is to print it.
Avian flu, various aspects of current events, scientific problems: I have files piling up. I receive two hundred emails a day, many of which represent files put together by my readers, often very well done, that would require handling. I have to make choices. But this morning Wilma becomes a priority. It's not about being sensational. There are things to say, urgently.
After Katrina, Rita, after the tropical storms and catastrophic floods that ravaged Central America, after the earthquake that killed tens of thousands of people on the Indo-Pakistani border, here is Hurricane Wilma which, in a few hours, has risen from force 4 to force 5 and is apparently heading toward the Central American States after having formed south of the island of Cuba. Force 5. The measured winds reach 285 km/h

Wilma: a monster as big ... as the Gulf of Mexico
Those who want to contemplate this veritable monster need only go and see the infrared animation on the link:

It's the site http://www.ssd.noaa.gov . NOAA means " National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration "
An infrared image of Wilma, which shows the extent of the disturbance. the pressure at 885 millibars, is the lowest ever recorded for a cyclone born in the Atlantic.

Found on the web by Eric Dezoete an animation that shows a thermal signal of a highly strange nature.
Many human lives will disappear. Men, women, children, old people will be drowned under floods, swallowed up under mudslides. Their houses will shatter under the blast of this new " Big Bad Wolf ". Yet solutions would exist to save many human lives, in these high-risk regions. I will attempt to evoke them for you.
There are several types of problems. First, dwellings must be considered that can withstand lateral winds of 200 to 300 km/h. Solutions have existed for a long time. For the moment they correspond to manufacturing costs that are too high because these strange houses were not designed with that in mind. These are the Domespaces, invented by the Frenchman Patrick Marsilli.

Patrick Marsilli's domespace
Here is his website:
In the presentation, emphasis is placed on the "bio" side of these houses. They are indeed rich in astonishing solutions, which you will discover on the site. Some models can turn with the sun. Their habitability is astonishing. They are well protected from cold and heat by cork beads, slipped between a covering of wooden "bardots", Canadian house style, and a plywood ceiling. the interior is warm, etc.
But they possess qualities that should be exploited as quickly as possible, through cheap versions . For the moment, establishing Domespaces throughout the world, in risk regions, would be impossible given their price. I personally think, given the human urgency, that this system should immediately be projected into the public domain, even if it means paying the company a flat compensation sum or sponsoring research that it would be in the best possible position to undertake in order to develop models that can be established in very poor regions.
The idea is obvious. A house with vertical walls is the worst thing for facing a lateral wind. The "drag" of such an object is maximal. A house has never been designed to be "streamlined". Either it resists, or it bursts like a nut.

Conversely, the Domespace presents minimal wind resistance. If it is only a matter of resisting violent winds, without risk of flooding, the dome formula is interesting. The construction method is then the following:

There are regions in the southern United States where winds of incredible violence periodically rage, reaching up to 300 km/h. All the houses that are potentially located on the path of tornadoes of this kind are equipped with an underground shelter, as a last resort. It very often happens that the survivors of such a passage emerge, once the monster has passed, by opening the hatch of their bunker and find of their house only its cement base, the rest having been pulverized into fragments scattered over hundreds of meters. A dome-shaped dwelling would have the best chances of resisting very violent winds. When one is confronted with such risks, questions of aesthetics no longer play a role., the house must above all be a bunker
Second problem: the dwelling risks not only being subjected to violent crosswinds, but also to a surge of liquid. This can be a flood linked to rains. Under these conditions it is possible to install it on stilts or on a very solid central pillar, offering little resistance to wind and to the surge of liquid masses.

But the elements can be such as to sweep everything away. Another solution, extreme, can then be envisaged. The Domespace-style house is an extremely resistant box, which can moreover be made watertight. It is then no longer a house but an ark where its inhabitants could find refuge. Light, this house can float on liquid elements. Of course, one cannot face all situations. A Domespace swept away by a raging torrent could burst if it encounters on its way an obstacle such as a rock or a tree. But the chances of survival would at least be greatly increased, in these fixed bunkers or ones transforming into "lifeboats".
Patrick Marsilli, designer of the Domespace, informs me that his company holds certificates attesting that its constructions have withstood winds of 240 km/h. Domespaces have weathered gusts of 280 km/h during the passage of hurricane Tim over Taiwan.
Furthermore, Domespaces have an approval for anti-seismic resistance of 8 on the MSK scale.
He tells me he has worked on "cheap" Domespaces via local productions using nailed or "riveted" laminated structures.
That is all for how to face this type of risk. Let us come to earthquakes.
The solutions have been found for millennia. Egyptologists have them before their eyes and pass by without seeing them. In Egypt, in Central America, constructions are placed under the sign of resistance to earthquakes. How? By proscribing any binder. An earthquake represents energy that must be dissipated, in any case, in one way or another. Then comes into play the concept of fragility, which is immediately obvious. Give a hammer blow to an object. You will communicate to it a certain energy, of kinetic origin (the energy of an earthquake is vibratory). What will happen?
If the object is fragile (a glass, any non-elastic material) it will break. Now conventional constructions, in reinforced concrete, from the angle of the strength of materials are fragile. Concrete does not have the reputation of being elastic and flexible. It cracks. The steel bars break. Then ceilings come loose and fall, crushing schoolchildren. Entire buildings lie down, killing their inhabitants. All this is too fast for these buildings to be evacuated. In Pakistan in October 2005 everything played out in a few seconds.
Solutions must therefore be envisaged to dissipate this energy other than by cracking; the breaking of materials. In so-called anti-seismic constructions very sophisticated systems are implemented giving buildings a certain elasticity. Buildings of an imposing height can thus undergo lateral displacements of several meters being placed not on pillars but on sorts of flexible blades.
Seismic waves are of several types. They can bring into play shear forces, horizontal or on the contrary vertical. The most elaborate anti-seismic constructions are therefore capable of absorbing these two types of stress with corresponding damping systems. But one can well imagine that all this costs very dearly, is out of reach of poor countries.
Sometimes catastrophic earthquakes kill a large number of people in regions where dwellings are modest (and not very resistant). Then the ceilings come loose, the walls topple, simply, crushing the inhabitants. By opting again and always for constructions not designed to absorb deformation energy, the shocks, the catastrophic outcome is assured. One then speaks of "fatality". One implores Allah, Vishnu or Christ, as one chooses, without looking further into the laws of the strength of materials. All this irritates me because people have already found solutions for decades, in particular a Frenchman, Fernand Ortega. I will speak of his achievements further on.
There, the principle is different. These houses are not flexible, but designed to absorb energy, like the pyramids of Giza. For there is nothing more anti-seismic than these latter dwellings of our dear pharaohs. The designers applied the principle of our dear Imhotep:
What is already cracked will crack no more
One cannot be more cracked than the pyramids, since they are piles of stones heaped one on top of another. Take a pyramid? Shake it, but hard. It will deform slightly, but all the mini-displacements of the blocks against one another will dissipate the energy, by friction, in the form of ... heat. Go and see, on my site, the photos of the rhomboidal pyramid, on the site of Dashur.

In the background, the red pyramid of Sneferu. In the foreground, the casing of the rhomboidal pyramid. Note the angle of the joint planes.
The stone beds are even inclined so that in the event of horizontal shocks everything automatically re-centers. Look at the special shape of the "pyramidions": the same underlying idea.

As opposed to the triangular blocks that litter by the thousands the sites where the pyramids are located, but which are, as I have shown, only remnants of quarrying and not elements of the casing. But this is another story.

Should we build houses in the shape of pyramids? Let's not go that far. Although, as Devos would say.....
Indeed there is much to "read" in these ancient constructions, based on the "golden ratio", which has nothing magical about it but happens to be "the least resonant of all numbers". Architects who will one day be led to build in earthquake regions should engrave this number in their heads and introduce it into the maximum number of ratios involved in their constructions. Simply because elements linked by this ratio have the least possible chance of exchanging energy through resonance. It is an experimental fact. It is ... mathematical ( the property of non-resonance discovered by Kantor, when he tried to evaluate the degree of irrationality of numbers ).
What is disturbing is that many ancient constructions use this property. It makes a mess.
In antiquity, binders are avoided, even though they are already known. "Cracked" construction is preferred, rightly so, which dissipates energy throughout the volume of the building. If it is not cracked, the non-homogeneous is also dissipative. An example. The Giza plateau has a mille-feuille structure with an alternation of limestone and clay layers. Very effective for attenuating horizontal seismic shocks.
Such a structure is also found, I believe in Lisbon, where a district built on this natural substrate escaped destruction, whereas next door, what a mess. Thinking "anti-seismic" would also mean preparing the ground in depth, which would not prevent buildings from being just as resistant. "Hard tower" is not obligatory. The skyscrapers of Mexico are built on former marshes and their verticality is ensured by a system of jacks. Same solution, if you didn't know, for the Eiffel Tower.
Seismic waves are not composed only of tremors with long periods. Short-frequency waves are also destructive. Go take a look at the colossi of Memnon ( 23 meters high ).

They have lost all their reliefs, not because Muslims supposedly damaged these anthropomorphic statues, contrary to the imperatives of their religion, but simply because of resonance phenomena. An ear here, a finger there. The Sphinx did not lose its nose under the effect of a cannon shot, but probably under the effect of an earthquake, which had already ravaged the initial shape of its head, which had had to be recarved smaller ( have you noticed that compared to the body it is tiny? ).
To resist earthquakes, one must prevent the creation of slip planes. Hence the apparent disorder of ancient constructions ( Egypt, Peru ) which archaeologists, in their great majority, still understand nothing about, rebuilding "nice and straight". Example: take a look at the paws of the Sphinx.

Same thing in the reconstruction of the temple of Kom Ombo, on the bank of the Nile, dedicated to the crocodile god Sobek. For those who have made this trip or who are about to make it, once on the spot, put your back to the Nile. Look at the wall being reconstructed, in the foreground, and the ancient wall, behind. Visibly the ancients "did not know how to build straight". Finally, if you still have doubts about Egyptology, take a look at this photo taken at Karnak and look for the error.

or go consult my Egyptological blunder page.
There is a Frenchman who has invented an absolutely brilliant method of construction. His name: Fernand Ortega. It turns out ( I realized this while trying to reach him by telephone ) that he is my neighbor. He lives a few kilometers from my home. He has no website but I will soon devote pages to his concepts and achievements. His ideas are brilliant, but as usual, in France, people like him have been struggling for years. As I will soon have images and perhaps even video clips I will only give a schematic description. Ortega's houses are built without binder, without cement. He has therefore been the object of a powerful blockade by all the cement makers of the world, Bouygues at the head. The construction elements are molded. One could speak of "reconstituted stone" insofar as Ortega creates these elements, rot-proof, solid, with zero expansion coefficient, from, for example, "road stones" or debris from houses, following an earthquake ( when one rebuilds in the classical way, the evacuation of such rubble is immediately a problem. Ortega, for his part, recycles them ). These debris are agglomerated with a product of his invention. They can then take all possible shapes and be fitted with tenons, male and female, and thus be the object of Lego-style assemblies. It's dead simple, it's brilliant, but it remains practically unused.
In France, rapid intervention teams have been created, ready to install on disaster sites kit hospitals, emergency antennas. If I were a minister I would entrust Ortega with the task of creating teams which, transporting the trailers described above by plane, would set up elements allowing villages and towns to be rebuilt.
Ortega indeed designed a trailer about ten meters long that contains everything needed to keep producing these "bricks." At one end, wheelbarrows full of debris from collapsed houses are dumped in. In the middle, the "catalyst" is added, and at the other end come out ready-to-use lego-bricks. The system does not require exceptional technical skill. Two or three illiterate but clever laborers can build a house with a second floor. The house rests on a concrete base. It is "tied together." There will be a full report on the subject. I had seen a complete video of its construction 15 years ago. Its advantage: it "bends and does not break." It is impossible to crack it: it already is. I have just spoken to Ortega on the phone, whom I will see tomorrow. His house is anticyclonic, it is capable of withstanding winds of 300 km/h. So, for heaven's sake, what are we waiting for, instead of continuing to build in the traditional way things that kill people by falling on their heads!
That is my response to this series of disasters that have been striking the Earth for months. And I am very much afraid that this series is not about to stop. Today, October 19, a earthquake is reported to have occurred in Greece, after that country was hit, after Romania, by avian flu. The North absolutely must take care of the South, the rich countries of the poor countries. In recent days demonstrators have mentioned the fact that in the world one person dies of hunger every four seconds whereas, as Ziegler's book demonstrates, the Earth would have enough to feed three times the number of men who inhabit it.
We must not only feed men, but also keep them healthy.
Can Tamiflu protect human beings against the pandemic that everyone dreads? Precautionary principle: better to anticipate the answer.

Only the Roche laboratories are supposed to be able to produce this medication. But if the Pandemic breaks out, will the current stock be sufficient? One may seriously doubt it. On the other hand, large profits are to be expected for the company "that would consider lowering the conditions for manufacturing under license." But if hundreds of thousands of lives are threatened, could this medication, if it proves effective, still be the object of rights?
When our public services, our spokespeople tell us "that everything has been planned and that all precautions have been taken," it is precisely when we hear that that we are tempted to worry. Do some people remember the declarations of journalists, hammered out on television channels at the time of the appearance of the first cases of AIDS. I still remember a woman who had been entrusted with this mission of reassurance, repeating day after day:
*- We must not dramatize and tell ourselves that among the people contaminated by the virus, only a small proportion will contract the disease. *
It was nonsense, as always. We learn that poultry raised outdoors are "regularly monitored by the veterinary services." That being said, we have seen that in other countries, either these poultry were outright brought into buildings, or the breeders stretched nylon nets over the ground where the birds could move about, on which migratory birds or any other winged vector of the infection cannot land. Yet we know that it is through droppings that contagion occurs. We also know that migratory birds readily land in farms to peck at some food. Should signs be put up with "have lunch, yes, but please, go do your business elsewhere." Another remark: How does the epidemic spread? Some come to doubt that it is the work of migratory birds (...). On this subject we really hear anything and its opposite, these days.
A journalist explained to us that in certain farms "the poultry took their meal inside the buildings."
When sick animals are collected, the veterinary services handle them with protective clothing and rubber gloves. But duck hunters will pick them up by hand.

An epidemiologist told us, during a variety show where people were joking loudly, that the Earth periodically experienced flu pandemics, at a relatively high frequency. Is the fact that this one affects migratory birds not a first? The whole problem is there. Flu is no small matter. The so-called "Spanish" flu, which caused ten million victims at the end of the First World War, had its origin in the ... United States and was very probably brought to Europe by the American expeditionary force. Like all flu viruses, these are aerolizable, can be transported by air. The Spanish flu was a formidable pulmonary infection because the virus had the property of being able to attach itself to lung tissue and inject its clones there, which in turn parasitized cells. We know that a virus obeys only one rule:
Grow and multiply
It is a parasite that is capable of penetrating inside cells by taking control of their "assembly workshops," which then work for its benefit. Their weak point is their vulnerability to an increase in temperature, to fever. The appearance by mutation of a virus that has suddenly become "heat-resistant," endowed with a sufficiently effective vector of propagation, would rid the surface of the Earth of the human species in a few months
I wish for only one thing: that these rumors of pandemic be only a false alarm. Otherwise, poor us.
Even at the risk of playing the alarmist, the dyed-in-the-wool conspiracy theorist, I'll still drop an idea in passing, just to stake a claim. I hope the future will not confirm this hypothesis. We have known for months (and we had known for years) that we are capable, thanks to nanotechnologies, of producing "chips" of a sub-millimeter size. Six months ago the Gillette company had considered equipping 100,000 of its next razors with chips, manufactured by the company Alien Technology (it's not a gag, go and see on http://www.alientechnology.com and in particular in the military applications section). Dimensions: one hundred microns, therefore easily injectable using simple syringes. It is moreover known how to configure these chips so that they can go and attach themselves to precise points of the human organism. Below, the home page of the site "Alien Technology", literally "Technologies from elsewhere" (...).

These tiny chips can be fired from scoped rifles and their entry into the human body will then be perceived "like a simple insect bite". They can also be adapted to the tip of the needles of the famous Tasers, in which case they will remain in the bodies of the subjects thus "treated". Another version: the introduction of such chips deep into a human brain, through a tiny hole made in the cranial box after anesthesia (the triggering of a loss of consciousness by the action of pulsed microwaves is a perfectly mastered technique). The entry hole will heal very quickly. The chip will be undetectable and without side effects until it is activated. Anything can then be envisaged. It can serve as a receiving antenna for orders delivered from space or from any counter-transmitter. It can secrete a toxin and cause death. It can be used to cause a brain tumor or to modify the behavior of vast groups of human beings. In a file I had mentioned the fact that vast regions could be sprayed in the context of the "war of the waves" (mentioned by the journalist Robert Arnaut in his program on the airwaves of France Inter "Histoires possibles et impossible" as early as 2002 in a program entitled "La Guerre propre", listenable in the archives, 3.5 MB, 29 minutes. Fascinating). Below, an illustration taken from a document emanating from the DoD (Department of Defense)

To be compared with the illustration that I had composed in August 2002, accompanying a file on Haarp:

With such systems it then becomes possible to spray entire countries. Two countries in the world currently have this technology. Couple this modern technique of "crowd control" with the idea that subjects have a receiver implanted in their body. But how? Through a vast vaccination operation, proposed after a conditioning (pandemic). To each ethnic group its "specific vaccine" and the possibility of finally having an "ethnic weapon", which is the dream of all the great powers. Simple hypothesis.
I tell you: we live in a formidable era.
October 19, 2005:
The Garbuna volcano group (Papua New Guinea) erupted after 1700 years of inactivity.
The Garbuna volcano group, located on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea, erupted on Monday, October 17, 2005, after a very long period of rest of nearly 1700 years.
No monitoring equipment having been installed on this volcanic massif, the population could not be warned of a possible reactivation of its volcanoes.
These volcanoes - which were believed to be "extinct" - began to rumble dangerously. A plume of ash 4 km high spread from one of the craters, and the neighboring village of Garu was dusted with volcanic ash.
More than 20,000 people are directly threatened by this volcano group.
