A new sect
February 19, 2006
It was to be expected: in these troubled times, new sects are flourishing. They have their prayers, their liturgy, their songs. Their activities are being closely monitored by the Renseignements généraux. Like Marine recruiters, the new adherents hover around places frequented by the popular strata of society such as Quick, Monoprix; Les Nouvelles Galeries, Intersport, la Fnac and cash machines. Information gathered, it is
The Church of Holy Consumption

The course of faith in real time
The government fears that the movement, which it is feared might prove uncontrollable, could gather momentum. In response, President Jacques Chirac has reaffirmed his vibrant belief in Europe and in Globalization. See the link:

My correspondent in Limoges wired me this morning:
Limoges, Saturday February 11, from 4 p.m., procession-and-ramble by the San Precario gang, which was followed by a discussion/debate at 5:30 p.m. on precariousness and growth. The high priest, imposing in his purple habit, led the crowd of the faithful (about thirty people) through the streets of Limoges. The practitioners followed him along the already known stations (Quick, Monoprix, Nouvelles Galeries, Intersport, cash machine and FNAC) singing:
Not a single little penny do I have left I have already consumed everything Credit is fatal to me I can no longer repay
(chorus)Oh, land of distress Where we must ceaselessly Consume Consume
Not a single little penny falls Into my account drained dry Pockets empty I look in vain At your windows filled with everything
(chorus)
The rich they consume without pain The profits go into their pockets We the poor are in misery And your world does not suit us
(chorus)
But one day the precarious together Will change that world No more sorrow and no more misery The whole earth will be ours
Oh, world of gladness Where we will be able ceaselessly To think To love
At each stop, prayer, kneeling on the sidewalk, the members of the sect handed out a leaflet with an esoteric title, entitled "The Precarious One and the Water Lily". The text undoubtedly contains a message in encrypted form and has been submitted to the experts of the National Defense.
The members of the sect having attempted to spread their message and to pray in a Monoprix, at the Nouvelles Galeries and at Intersport even had the right the managements objected "that one did not have the right to sing and to say prayers aloud in a store, especially in a group".
The members of the sect then addressed "the god MEDEF" launching this time:
Hail, Bosses, full of fat
You are blessed among all the masters
And Capital, fruit of your entrails, is blessed
May your reign last a thousand years
May your interests be ours
At work as at home
Forgive us our desires for freedom and laziness
As we forgive you for exploiting us like dogs
For it is for our good
In the name of the dough, the cash and the holy profit...
Deliver us from our dreams!
Amen
Glory to you, precariousness
You who know how to make our tomorrows uncertain
You who place each new day
Under the threat of misery, eviction and overdraft
You who have known how to make us understand
That any job is good to take
Glory to you, who offers us
Shitty jobs paid in crumbs
New-hire contracts and headhunters
From fixed-term contracts to future contracts, from temp work to phony internships
You lead us toward submission
Without you, neither growth nor profit
So long live precarious full employment
With you it's for life
Hallelujah!
A mobile phone store also had the right to a stop by the faithful:
O mobile phone
You who connecting people
You who allow me to be mobile and traceable at any moment
And to reach my friends at any time
Keep us from battery failures
O Orange, O SFR, O Bouygues
You who know so well how to tune your rates
For holy competition, free and undistorted,
Allow my boss to call me and that, I like
To better protect me from lie-ins,
boozy evenings and idleness
O GSM relay antennas
You who promise our cherubs years of MRI
You also allow them to call us in case of trouble
And for that, we give you thanks
As we thank you for giving us the hope
Of being able one day to say:
Hello? God? It's me. Where are you?
Hallelujah!
The members of the sect announced that an appointment had been made for March 11, 2006, adding "all the repentant can join us".
Public confessions are apparently planned
All this reminds me of a poem by Paul Valéry:
Profit is nothing that does not grow to the extreme
To grow is its law, it dies of being the same
And dies in whoever lives only for it
Living on thirst forever unquenched
Profit-tree with roots of flesh
You live by living at the quickest of life
You live on everything, on the tender and the bitter
And on the unjust even better than on the tender
Profit-tree that never ceases to spread
Over our weaknesses a strange vigor
A thousand moments that your soul keeps for you
Are foliage and arrow of light to you
And yet at the confines of horror
Beneath the sword your law grows firm
The same thirst that gains in depth
Draws from the shadow at the source of tears.
Breaking news: a group of terrorists were intercepted at the last minute thanks to a skillful infiltration of their group carried out by a member of the DST. Without this energetic action the operation could have turned into a disaster and, worse still, spawned imitators. Everything was ready for the group to take action. The idea was to send cars converging en masse toward the Maison de la Radio according to a very well-regulated schedule and timing. In the trunks of each vehicle the terrorists had planned to place televisions and radio sets which would have been stacked in front of the building.
Although the group had been dismantled, the police carried out checks near the Maison de la Radio, asking motorists to open their car trunks in order to check whether they were carrying sets.
The government declares itself concerned by this new type of action which, according to some observers, could lead to a veritable "crisis of civilization".

Incidentally, an angel from heaven has been found dead. Analyses are under way on stool samples. It is not ruled out that it may have been a victim of avian flu.

The Minister of Agriculture said that if people found a dead angel they should above all refrain from touching it and immediately alert the authorities.
