Guantanamo: Mental Destruction of Prisoners Through Sensory Deprivation
Various Forms of Torture
February 2, 2009
What is the meaning of the word "torture"? According to the Larousse dictionary, the word "torture" refers to the word "punishment," which is described as a physical punishment inflicted upon someone.
There are various ways to harm an individual's body. Punishments and tortures can leave more or less visible traces. Regarding physical traces, some are visible but not disabling, such as cigarette burn marks. Others leave no visible trace, such as "the bathtub torture," where, in fact, a bathtub is not used, but the victim is gradually suffocated by allowing water to flow over a wet cloth applied to the opening of their respiratory tract. This type of torture is commonly practiced and claimed, in particular, by certain American personalities as a "more advanced form of interrogation." However, it is also possible to attack the brain of individuals.
The range of such "treatments" is left to the imagination of the torturers, who have the opportunity to exercise pathological impulses, as was the case in Nazi camps. Among these methods: sexual assaults (masturbation, sodomy, or fellatio performed on Muslim prisoners, added to sensory deprivation).
At Guantanamo, the Americans have systematized not a form of torture, but the destruction of the mental structures of individuals, which can be achieved through sensory deprivation. The following photo shows prisoners, detained without trial, "treated" with the most complete possible sensory deprivation:
Guantanamo: Mental Structure Destruction Through Sensory Deprivation.
The prisoners have their hands tied. They are on their knees, heads bowed, in a position of submission. Headphones deprive them of auditory stimuli. Masks plunge them into complete darkness. Mouth guards prevent any verbal expression. It should be noted that those in charge of these treatments wear rubber gloves, to prevent any physical contact with the prisoners and to dehumanize them as much as possible. This treatment quickly causes hallucinatory effects. This complements the lack of sleep, prolonged standing, which deprives the brain of blood flow. The goal is to make the subjects lose their sense of space and time. All of this was practiced at Guantanamo with the approval of Donald Rumsfeld, the Secretary of Defense.
With such treatment, which is reminiscent of a Kubrick film whose name escapes me (&&&), American soldiers hope to destroy any possible rebellion in these individuals, turning them into real zombies, who could then be safely released into the wild (in fact, those who survive this treatment are released into the wild, full of vengeance, especially if they have been subjected to this treatment while innocent!).
In doing so, these people being considered as "terrorists," those in charge of such treatments certainly feel they are accomplishing a patriotic act, by protecting American citizens and soldiers from any possible aggressive activity by these prisoners, who are not considered as opponents or prisoners of war, but as criminals, whose offenses would be so serious that they would not even deserve a trial, let alone benefit from the Geneva Conventions, but only "a treatment at the limits left to the discretion of those who take care of them."
This is not new and recalls the Soviet trials (Prague trials, brainwashing), or the hysteria of the "re-education" of the Chinese Cultural Revolution. See also the internment in psychiatric hospitals, practiced by the Soviets, with the destruction, this time chemical, of an individual's mental abilities.
Given the current state of the world, and the generalization of the concept of "war on terrorism," a "terrorist" being simply an individual who, somewhere, is not in agreement with the local dominant power, anyone reading these lines can know that it is not impossible for them to one day be subjected to such treatment.

It is estimated that 50,000 individuals have been subjected to this kind of treatment by specialized American services, approved by the Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, and by the President Bush. These techniques were quickly exported to different countries, and led to the Bagram and Abu Graib incidents. It should be noted that 35% of American citizens approve of these methods "intended to ensure their safety."
Muslim prisoner "treated like a dog." Maximum dehumanization.
